Well unfortunately, determining the value of your home–or any home for that matter–can be a tricky process. You can go online, and nowadays there are endless websites that promise a fast answer with fancy charts and graphs.

The trouble with these offerings is that they have little to no local market information or relevant comparable sales information. Texas is a non-disclosure state, meaning that home sales price information is closely guarded, and not readily available. How can anyone do an accurate home valuation without access to accurate comparable sales information?
These proprietary algorithms are also not aware that a new park is being built, or that a four-lane highway is being re-routed, or that you or someone else lovingly cared for and maintained the home. They are not aware of the home’s features and upgrades, and current condition, and cannot accurately compare the home with other homes in the area that have recently sold.
