Buyers Willing To Sacrifice Square Footage For A Shorter Commute!
When shopping for property, most Buyers have a list of must-haves—features they want and need in their new home. And at the top of that list for many Buyers? A manageable commute to work.
According to a recent article in Realtor Magazine, 85 percent of Buyers surveyed said that they would trade a variety of home amenities (including lot size, square footage, and home style) for a shorter and more manageable commute to work. In fact, 40 percent of the Buyers surveyed said they were looking for a home that would shorten their commute time by 45 minutes.
According to Realtor.com, although you cannot pin a dollar amount to your stress levels, how long you are willing to commute to work also depends on how frustrated you get sitting behind the wheel of a car.
The Takeaway:
If you are in the market for a new property, talk to your real estate agent about your list of must-haves, including how long you are willing to commute to work. With the right support, you can find a home that checks off most (if not all) of those must-haves—including a short commute time.
